Q: WHAT IS A GAS GRILL “TUNE-UP” OR SERVICE CALL?
A: A Gas Grill Tune-up involves removing the various internal parts of the grill, checking and inspecting each part including the cooking grates, heat shields, burners, valves, air shutters, valve orifices, regulator, gas connections, automatic Igniters and other vital components of the grill. The tune-up involves adjusting and making minor repairs intended to keep the grill operating correctly and safely. A tune-up also includes a Gas Leak Safety Check to diagnose any connections that may be leaking gas. Any leaking connections found are tightened, sealed or certain fittings may be changed. Automatic Igniters are adjusted in order to ignite the burners properly. The grill is tested for leaks. An operational demonstration is provided to the customer. The tune-up generally takes less than an hour.
Q: WHAT DOES A DELUXE CLEANING INVOLVE?
A: A Deluxe Cleaning includes the steps involved in the tune-up process including removal and inspection of each of the vital parts/components of the grill. The Automatic Igniters are checked and adjusted, cooking grates thoroughly brushed, heat shield cleaned, burners cleaned and inspected, drip pan removed and cleaned, valves checked/lubricated and cleaned out.The inside and outside of the grill is cleaned with BBQ cleaner. Major grease and grime is removed from the various parts of the grill and from the interior/exterior of the grill. The exterior is then polished. Various proprietary techniques are used to clean the grill. The grill is tested and checked for leaks. An operational demonstration is provided to the customer. This process generally takes a couple hours.
Q: WHAT IS A RESTORATION CLEANING?
A: The BBQ Renew "Restoration Cleaning" is an intense Deep Cleaning combined with a complete Restoration of the BBQ Grill. This cleaning is indended to refurbish the grill back to near new condition. The grill is degreased with BBQ cleaner and fully sanitized. Repair of metalic corrosion and removeal of major burn marks/baked on grease is accomplished by combining various techniques including intense scrubbing, sanding, grinding and polishing and customized metal fabrication is done to repair weakened areas of the housing. Custom mechanical adjustments and repairs are performed and each part of the grill is inspected and repaired/restored to near new condition. Typically, the burners are reconditioned, heat shields restored, valves adjusted, automatic igniters replaced with new ignition system, drip pan removed and repaired, cooking grates replaced and the internal housing of the grill may be resurfaced with a stainless steel coating. This cleaning can be done at the customers home, but more commonly is performed at our workshop as there is no specific time allotment associated with completion of the job - but generally a minimum of 4+ man-hours are spent on each grill. Every restoration project is given specific professional attention by a technician and the grill is essentially rebuilt. New replacement parts are combined with refurbishment of existing parts that pass inspection to achieve the best results while keeping the cost of the restoration project far less in cost than in comparison to purchasing of a new grill. The grill is tested and checked for leaks. An operational demonstration is provided to the customer.
Q: WILL MY GRILL LOOK LIKE NEW WHEN YOU ARE DONE?
A: It depends on the Service you request and the condition of the grill. Different results may be acheived by aTune-up, Deluxe Cleaning or Restoration Cleaning. The best results are acheived with the full Restoration Cleaning as the grill goes through a full disassembly, thorough cleaning and burn marks, rust and deterioration are removed and repaired as best as possible. Your grill will look near-new and sometimes operate even better than new as we make certain adjustments to the gril to enable it to burn more efficiently. A Deluxe cleaning will provide you with a surface-clean grill and will be sanitized however, certain burn marks may still be evident.
Q: CAN BBQ RENEW HELP ME GET RID OF VERMIN (RATS) IN MY GRILL AND ISLAND?
A: YES - We take this issue very seriously as RATS and other pests carry disease that can be transferred to your food and make you sick without even knowing how - any they love BBQ'd food! We fully remove the pests and their nests that have been built inside the grill and BBQ Island. We than sanitize the Grill and other componenets with a Bleach based cleaner, than we seal any holes in the BBQ Island/grill area that would allow the critters to get back in an re-establish their home.
Q: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PERFORM THE SERVICE AT MY HOME?
A: Again this depends on the size and condition of the grill as well as the service selected. Generally a Tune-up with no cleaning involved usually takes about an hour. A Deluxe Cleaning generally takes a couple hours and a fulll Restoration Cleaning about 4+ or more hours.
Q: HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY GAS GRILL BE CLEANED?
A: This depends on how often you BBQ, the weather conditions (based on where your live - near the ocean or in the desert), and if you cover your grill. It also depends on the foods you cook and sauces as well as the temperature you generally cook at. But our recomendation is that a grill should be cleaned at least every six months, or as mentioned if you cook often and the grill is located near the ocean as well as left uncovered frquently, we would recommend a cleaning every two to three months.
Q: WHAT TYPES OF PARTS ARE COMMONLY REPLACED?
A: Generally this depends on the the factors already mentioned above, but the most frequent parts that customers replace are Automatic Igniter Systems, Cooking Grates, Burners and Heat Radients/Shields.
Q: DOES BBQ RENEW PROVIDE REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR MY GRILL?
A: Yes - BBQ Renew can provide replacement parts at an additional cost for just about any grill on the market. There are very few instances where we cannot aquire a part for a particular grill. Generally if a manufacturer has gone out of business or changed their manufacturing process/location, or discontinued a grill - that is when parts may be difficult to obtain. However, we are able to retrofit parts in most cases.
Q: DO YOU CHECK MY GRILL FOR GAS LEAKS?
A: Yes - included in every service call we check the grill for leaks.
Q: WILL WATER HARM MY GRILL DURING THE CLEANING PROCESS?
A: No water will not harm your grill and we do use water in the cleaning process. However, the grill must be completely dry for the automatic igniters to work properly and this sometimes may take up to 48 hours.
Q: WHAT TYPE OF CLEANING SOLUTIONS DO YOU USE?
A: Generally, we use environmentally safe cleaning solutions, however in some instances with grills that have severely baked on grease, we may need to use oven cleaner type products such as Easy Off Barbeque cleaner or other similar products.
Q: WILL BBQ RENEW HANDLE MY WARRANTEE CLAIM FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS?
A: In most cases, you will need to contact the manufacturer to get warranty service or replacement parts.
Q: WHAT IS THE “WINDOW OF TIME” FOR ARRIVAL WHEN I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
A: Please provide approximately one hour flexibility for our service tech to arrive as sometimes they get tied up on a previous appointment or traffic may slow down the arrival time. However, we will attempt to call you if we are running late and you can always contact us and we can give you an estimated arrival time.
Q: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SERVICE MY GRILL IF IT IS TAKEN TO THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS?
A: A full Restoration Cleaning along with repairs to the grill may take up to 2 to 4+ hours. It all depends on the type of repairs being performed and the number of grills being serviced in the shop. We dedicate as much time as needed to completely finish the repairs and cleaning as the Restoration process involves rebuilding the grill.
Q: WHAT IF I BOUGHT MY OWN PARTS AND WANT BBQ RENEW TO INSTALL THEM?
A: We can install parts that you have purchased, but we do not warrantee that the parts will work properly or will fit the grill. We also do not guarantee they will operate correctly for any length of time. We generally do charge approximatley $80 to install parts that you have purchased. If parts are provided by BBQ Renew, we guarantee they will operate correctly, and stand behind out work for Six (6) Months.
Q: DOES BBQ RENEW BUILD NEW CUSTOM BBQ ISLANDS?
A: ABSOLUTELY - this is one of our specialties - we can design and build custome BBQ Islands with all types of componenets including the BBQ Grill, Refrigerators, Sinks, Side-Burners, etc. You tell us what you want to acheive and it we can do it!
Q: DOES BBQ RENEW SELL NEW GRILLS AND OTHER BBQ ISLAND COMPONENTS?
A: YES - and we offer some of the best prices on the market.
Q: DOES BBQ RENEW REPAIR AUTOMATIC IGNITORS?
A: YES - we can repair or replace automatic igniters on just about any grill.
Q: ARE THERE ADDITIONAL CHARGES IF MY GRILL IS LARGER THAN 36”, HAS A SEPARATE SIDE BURNER OR OTHER COMPONENTS I WANT CLEANED?
A: There may be an additional chrage if the grill is larger than 36" or if the Technician determines the grill is "Extra-Dirty" due to a grill that has not been cleaned in many years or is just abnormally in poor condition. Side-burners are generally cleaned in conjuntion with the grill at no additional cost (depending on the number and condition of the side burner). Multiple side burners or other componenets in a Grill Island can be cleaned for an additional cost.
Q: CAN BBQ RENEW FIX A BAD VALVE THAT DOESN’T TURN OR LEAKS GAS?
A: Yes we generally can fix valve problems and leaks. Again, this depends on if the part is available, as mentioned there are some instances where the parts are no longer manufactured due to a company going out of business or for other reasons, but generally most valves can be replaced.

A: We generally service them all!
Q: WHAT IS A FIREPIT “TUNE-UP” AND SERVICE?
A: Generally at FIRE-PIT Tune-UP involves taking out all of the rocks and debris out of the firepit, checking and testing the valve and fire-ring burners, checking for leaks, fixing minir masonry issues and full testing of the system. We also provide Fire-Ring Replacement and complete custom repair and rebuilding of the Fire-Pit. Lastly, we also offer Pre-Fabricated FirePits installation as well.
Q: WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A CHIMNEY CLEANING?
A: Chimney cleaning involves cleaning out the internal Flue(s) ot the Chimney. Each source of combustion such as a fireplace, gas furnace, oil furnace etc is attached to a Flue inside your chimney. We clean the internal Flue out of debris and check to make sure there are no dangerous areas inside the chimney that can cause house fire or Carbon Monixide leaks into your home. In the instance we find a problem, we generally recommend the Chimney Flue Liner is Re-Lined with a Stainless Steel Liner material to prevent areas of the internal flue from being exposed to the wall of the home.
